Giving our Faith Feet: 2022 PRIDE Celebration – Sunday, June 12, 2022
This year, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva is partnering with the New England Congregational Church and the Wesley United Methodist Church of Aurora to give our faith feet and show our solidarity with our local LGBTQIA+ community! We are invited to munch, celebrate, and march with our community in this year’s annual Aurora PRIDE parade! More, there is a whole day of fun PRIDE activities for the whole family to share as we gather to celebrate in love, inclusion, and welcome!
Here's an overview of what to expect:
“Pride Cakes” Pancake Breakfast, 8:30-10am
Rainbow pancakes? Oh, yes! In the Friendship Hall of the New England Congregational Church in Aurora (at 406 W. Galena Blvd, Aurora, IL). No sign up necessary! All are welcome!
UUSG Co-Leads Community Worship Service at the New England Congregational Church, 10-10:30am
Please note that there will be no service at UUSG this morning. Please join us at 406 W. Galena Blvd. as Rev. Scot co-leads the combined community worship service!
Marching in the Aurora Pride Parade, gathering at 10:30am, parade at 12pm
Bring your fabulous best and get ready to Parade! After the Community Worship Service, we will gather near the Main Parking lot area of the New England Congregational Church at 10:30am to walk down to the Parade staging area together as a group. The parade will begin at noon. Bring your energy! Bring your rainbows! Bring your family! Bring your friends! The more, the merrier! As we march down the streets, we will carry our UUSG banner, call out chants, and play kazoos! We will also have Rainbow Peace necklaces to distribute to the kids and teens watching the parade. Fox Valley Pride Family Picnic at Wheeler Park, 4:30-8:00pm
UUSG is joining UMC Geneva, Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, Geneva Lutheran Church, and Fox Valley PRIDE to host a family-friendly evening of food and fun! Our congregations are working together to provide the food and beverages. We need donations of food, beverages, and plates/utensils, as well as time for set up, take down, and grilling at the picnic. Each congregation will have its own procedure for collecting donations and getting them to the picnic, but we have one shared sign-up to make sure we get all the items and volunteers we need.
