Join us for a free pre-screening of the new documentary “TransGeek.” The film will be followed by a panel discussion led by the director/producer Kevin McCarthy.
“TransGeek” Movie is a documentary exploring the intersection of gender identity and geek culture. We interview people working in science, technology, gaming, science fiction/fantasy, and other geekish pursuits; to give voice to their stories. We explore how people express their authentic selves through geek culture; and how their gender identities have affected their professional development.
“TransGeek” will not be released for distribution until this coming summer. It will be screened at six festivals and 2 community viewings. They will be traveling to 4 countries, across 3 continents.
The film is sponsored by Interweave and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva. Interweave is a local group of LGBTQ members, friends, and allies who meet once a month to have programs and discussions about issues and events interesting and important to the group. We do have members and friends of UUSG attending but we also have members who attend from other churches and the community who are not otherwise attached to UUSG. Interweave meetings and events are open to the public at large as well.
