Indigenous Americans Conversation Series
Across three evenings in November, the UUSG Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Ministry Team is hosting a series of conversations to consider the effects of white supremacy/colonialism on Native American culture and the Earth. Please join the conversation each evening as we explore a different topic, all facilitated by Lynn Steele. Participants can sign up for one or more of the conversations here.
November 3, at 7pm on Zoom: "Culture of Conquest"
This conversation involves a discussion of the historical context of the issues facing Indigenous Americans today. The advance reading material is a chapter scanned from An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, available here. (There are also copies of the book in UUSG’s library.)
November 10, at 7pm on Zoom: The Wellbriety Journey to Forgiveness
This conversation involves a discussion of the legacy of boarding schools and ways in which Indigenous Americans are recovering their cultural identity. The advance material is watching an hour-long video available here.
November 17, at 7pm on Zoom: Returning the Gift
