How do you make decisions when you suddenly find yourself with a loved one in a health crisis? Bev Coe will talk about her experience when Peter was in the hospital on a ventilator, including how she made difficult life-and-death decisions and how she coped during his hospitalization and longer-term recovery. After Peter and Bev share their experiences, we will open the floor to discuss the mental toll it takes to be a caregiver for loved ones—whether during a short-term crisis, a long-term illness, or both. We will share ideas about how caregivers can cope when people they love need them to make major medical decisions and to provide for their ongoing physical and psychological needs.
