One of the hallmarks of spiritual and personal power is the ability to apologize and to forgive. According to Dr. Harriet Lerner, author of Why Won’t You Apologize, "I’m sorry" are the two most important words in our language. Why is a heartfelt apology so important, what makes it hard to offer sometimes, and what does it have to do with spirituality? In April, Women’s Circle welcomes guest speaker Kathy McFadden, who will provide insights from Dr. Lerner’s book: how to give and receive an apology; how to listen non-defensively, and how to give constructive feedback in a way that makes it easier for the other person to offer a heartfelt apology. Women’s Circle attendees will have an opportunity for small group discussion and a chance to practice the insights shared.
All UUSG members and friends identifying as female are welcome to our April 9th gathering in the Sanctuary from 1 to 4 PM at UUSG. We look forward to gathering in person, and in addition, our tech team has agreed to help make this session available via a Zoom link. Please use the easy sign-up access here. In the comment section, please let us know if you’ll be attending in person or on Zoom.
