Martin Luther King Day Event at UUSG
Come celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with UUSG Social Justice and Hope Fair Housing. Fair Hope Housing will be holding their second annual dialogue and service event on MLK day Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 3 PM at UUSG. Like last year, our service project will involve creating care packages for homeless youth in our area. There will be adults and lots of high school/college students in attendance from all over the Northern Illinois and of all economic levels. We will provide breakfast (bagels, etc) and lunch (sandwiches) for attendees – especially important for free lunch students on a holiday weekend.
Maria Krysan, Professor and Department Head of Sociology at University of Illinois at Chicago, will be discussing her book Cycle of Segregation: Social Processes and Residential Stratification.** You can order the book using Amazon Smile and select HOPE Fair Housing Center as your charity. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss ways of taking the lessons from the book and implementing them in their own communities.
