Friday Flicks: Understanding the Opioid Epidemic
Please join us in the Common Room on Friday, September 28, at 7pm for this month's Friday Flicks Presentation: Understanding the Opiod Epidemic.
Driven by escalating opioid addiction, drug overdoses are now the leading cause of death among Americans under 50. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the opioid epidemic is fueled by prescription pain medications. Despite the concerns, opioids remain one of the most prescribed drugs in the United States.
Experts believe that the first step to minimizing this epidemic is prevention. Prevention involves awareness and education.
Understanding the Opioid Epidemic is a one-hour PBS documentary that traces the causes behind the unprecedented growth in the use of prescription opioids and the devastating impact these drugs are having in every part of America. The impact on young people, families and communities is devastating. Awareness and education can hopefully begin to slow the epidemic.
